Teen & Adolescent Therapy
Adolescence is a time of becoming.
The teenage years bring profound changes in identity, relationships, independence, belonging, and self-understanding. What looks like withdrawal, anxiety, defiance, disengagement, or risk-taking may be connected to something deeper underneath.
A therapeutic relationship container offers a young person space to feel understood, develop their own internal language, make sense of what they’re experiencing, and develop a deeper relationship with themselves. From here, the symptoms of stress and growing up can begin to settle down.
My work with adolescents began inside high schools.
During my graduate training and early clinical work, I worked with young people alongside students, teachers, and parents, and supported students with IEPs through in-school counseling and team consultation.
I understand adolescence within the larger web of family, peers, school, culture, and identity.
Adolescence asks us to begin separating from who we have been expected to be, discovering who we are, and growing into a self that feels more fully our own.
If you’re wondering whether therapy might help your teen, we can start with a conversation.
